It’s been ages since I’ve seen the sea. Today would be the day. After 80km of inland walking, which has its own charms but essentially isn’t the beach, there was just a short 13km, mainly road walk, in my way. Pffft, 13km to me only feels like 12.5km now.

I saw a few of these little bike station things which I thought was a really nice touch. There are a lot of dedicated cycle paths on the roads and off through the woods. I must have seen at least 1000 cyclists today and it’s really cool that these stations exist.
After walking past some graffiti that the Spainish youth had obviously dedicated to me I stumbled across a cat lady feeding all the stray cats in the park. It looked like each one had its own dedicated bowl. I have a feeling she spends a lot of time here.

After a bit more walking I started to feel a bit exhausted so I took a moment to myself in Bronson’s rain cover. The others were still waiting for me when I came out so that was nice.

Micheal wanted to do some writing so he stopped and myself and Jenny carried on to the ocean. Once away from the end of the city the paths became picturesque again and we took a moment to pat some horses on the face.

The sign for Pobeña approached and we were treated to the view of the sea as we summited a tiny hill. It was a sight for sore feet. I realised I hadn’t had a beer yesterday so, because I was so proud of myself, I had two to make up for it.
Ice cold beer sitting by the beach. You really can’t get much better.
I spent the rest of the day sunbathing and walking up and down the beach. Got a couple of nice shots of me mates being rubbish pilgrims just like me. We should be walking but we really are doing our best not too.
Also, a word to the chubby, tan lined, English men out there. When on a beach DO NOT get your photo taken next to a bronzed, toned Italian man. It will not do you any favours.

BUEN CAMINO
