I am not having much luck with snorers at the moment. This one didn’t have a weird snore, he had a LOUD snore. It was comical. It was exactly like cartoons portray. The classic snore, just at 100db. At least I didn’t have a 10,000 watt light shining straight into my eyes. This was Jenny’s view for the night.Β

Also the classic mosquitos and squeeky bed made a reappearance. I’m going to stop telling you guys about them now because I get the impression they are the norm. Just assume from now on that my bed squeeks.
Apart from the crap night’s sleep the Albergue was fantastic. A really great bunch of people, dinner and breakfast offered and they threw in some wine too!!
I also met a woman called Karen who had just done 51km in one day. We had a bit of a deep and meaningful about the Camino and all the different reasons people do it. Turns out she just fancied a wander so nipped over to bosh out a Camino.Β

There was a short 11km walk today but it was hot and I was tired. I came across a sign that looked like a child kicking an adults head around the floor so that was fun.Β

A German couple had left a few minutes before us and we walked up to them while they were stopped outside a campsite. Felix has a bag that can rival Bronson.

Seriously, I don’t know which one would win if they were to fight. Anyway, without much convincing each other we piled in to the campsite bar and got ourselves some yummy beers.Β

We were all feeling a bit done today due to a rather severe lack of sleep so, after the beers, we powered through to get to the albergue. There was some road walking but a lot of it was down country roads and not 130kmh main roads.
It was quite lovely walking in a conga line, chatting between the different people in our group and the final few km’s went by quite quickly.

Once we got to the Albergue and checked in there were 3 others behind us. We waited and we all got shown to our room. We realised once we had all unpacked that everyone in the room was German apart from little old me!
Looks like I am going to have to add German to my duo lingo app.

Apparently there is a German comedian who did the Camino and wrote a book about it recently so that might have something to do with it. That and it’s just a bloody lovely route to walk!!!Β

I got showered and then lunch was put on for us. A salad to start (Spanish make some pretty amazing salads) and then a lentil soup thingy afterwards. It was lovely. It made me think that I need to address my diet here. Mystery tins and nuts is not the best fuel for walking thousands of miles a day.Β
I then retreated to the back of the grounds where the sun shone, the trees rocked gently in the light breeze and the occasional waft of cow shit titillated the nostrils.Β

Felix and Clara were dicking around being proper healthy pilgrims and doing yoga and other such things that are good for you so I took the opportunity to chill out in their hammock and try to stay as still as possible.Β

I then set Jenny’s bed up to look like someone was in it to freak her out a bit.Β

It worked like a charm.
I went outside for a read and realised after about 20 minutes there were more people stretching and doing yoga around me. I felt a bit out of place sitting in the middle of the grass with a fag on.
Ah well, it’s my Camino right!
The evening began with a talk and a tale from a Spanish dude about the Albergue and the Camino. As he talked it was being translated in to English by a German dude. The whole thing was a treat. We then went and sat down for dinner where we had soup, pasta, watermelon and wine. There were about 70 pilgrims here tonight so the whole atmosphere was really fun.Β

I’m tired now. I’ve walked, eaten, socialised, drunk beer and wine and my bed is calling. Also, this is happening and I don’t know how to deal with it.Β

BUEN CAMINO
