A cheeky 12km walk today. Nothing impressive compared to other pilgrims but incredibly impressive compared to Essex Jack. It used to be that if you asked me if I wanted to go for a walk I would reply “why? To go somewhere? No? Then why? Why would I want to go for a walk? Leave me alone”Β

Not anymore and I think it’s mainly to do with the fact there is usually a beach at the end. I can feel it calling!
Anyway, it was time to leave one beach and head for the next. The destination promised a camp site fully equipped with a bar, restaurant and it was a 2 minute walk to the sea. Ticked all of my boxes for the day. Just that pesky 12km of walking in between us.
It was a pleasant walk. It took us through a nice little town. This style of town has started cropping up quite frequently and it’s always a nice little suprise.Β

A Spanish lady was walking through the town towards a field. Gorgeous tanned skin, long flowing hair and her dress was billowing gentle in the breeze. She gracefully approached the fence of the field and then started baaaaaing really loudly at the sheep.Β

We hadn’t eaten and it was 2pm. Jenny was bordering on hangry/canabalsim and I was getting light headed and weak. At that moment, out of the two of us, I didn’t fancy my chances.
We approached the town and stopped at the first restaurant we saw. Jenny got a goats cheese salad which I immediately had food envy about. I had to have a word with myself half an hour later to stop being in a mood about a goats cheese salad. Any of you ever been annoyed at yourself about a goats cheese salad? It felt weird.Β

Anyway, unimpressed with the town we carried on through it and it opened up onto a vibrant, bustling square with shops, bars and restaurants. We made a mental note not to go to the very first place that sells good when entering a town. I added restaurant envy to my weird list.
We left the town for the rest of the walk to head towards the lovely beach. When we got to the next place we checked in, pitched the tent and head straight to the sand. I had another lovely evening swim and a wander down along the beach with my headphones in listening to some chilled out sexy vibes.Β

I like to do this because every time, without fail, I look around and appreciate the rather unique position I am in and how lucky I am to be able to do it.Β

After the sun had given up for the day and I was back at old tenty I got the cooking gear out and opened one of my mystery tins.
Now I’m not going to lie to you guys, I’m pretty sure I ate some sort of animal penis this evening. It was absolutely disgusting. The taste and texture worried me even in the dark. I think if the sun had been up I would of just noped straight out of it. I had two mouthfuls and had to chuck it. Fortunately I had some trusty noodles with me so they got prematurely opened and consumed. I then washed the noodles and penis’s down with a nice can of beer.

Gonna watch a movie called “The Way” tonight. It’s about the Camino I am on so I’m going to see if I’ve been to any of the Albergues.
Not sure of the plan tomorrow. That’s a future Jack problem. He can deal with that.
BUEN CAMINO
